Author Stacey Sauter recounts how the writing of Bouillabaisse felt like she was living in Luigi Pirandello's madcap play, Six Characters in Search of an Author.  "As a writer, I fully empathized with the characters' demand that the author tell their story, and as accurately as possible," says Sauter.  "Similarly, once the characters in Bouillabaisse announced themselves, they would not give up until their individual tales were told, and in a very exacting way.  I've knocked out other novels in ten months. This one took me ten years to get the story just right."  Sauter will describe her journey of writing this novel about a fifteen-year old girl who becomes the surrogate mother to an abandoned baby; and of finding an actual setting where it allowed the theater in her mind to bring the fictional characters to life.
