uPublishU at BEA Posts Keynote and Panel Descriptions on Website; Bestselling Authors, Leading Industry Professionals, and Top Trade Journalists are Part of Program

Price For Conference Program Is $99!

Norwalk, CT, May 7, 2012: Officials at BookExpo America (BEA) have announced that panel descriptions for uPublishU, the day-long conference devoted to self-publishing which will take place on Sunday, June 3 at the Javits Center in New York City, have been posted on the BEA website. Organizers encourage all interested writers to review these panels as many of the speakers are leading industry professionals with careers and experience in publishing or other book related fields.  These experts will be offering sound advice for the writer seeking to take control of their future. Self-publishing is a rapidly developing and changing area of the book industry which is not only attracting the interest of the would-be author but also other book industry professionals eager to capitalize on this burgeoning market.

BookExpo America, North America’s leading book industry event, will take place in New York City at the Javits Center Monday, June 4 – Thursday, June 7. uPublishU is a unique opportunity for aspiring authors to be a part of this gathering of industry professionals. The conference takes place just as the convention opens and the price for participation is $99!
The competition is high in the self-publishing marketplace.  The field is crowded and getting information from industry experts is the best way to be armed with the ins and outs of publishing to support your book.  BEA organizers note that unlike many similar programs, uPubU’s speakers bring the overall publishing, bookselling and marketing experience necessary to explain what you have to do to get ahead, often borrowing on the advice that they would give to authors who have the backing of major trade publishers.  The special focus of uPubU is on getting authors to fully understand the most important strategies and tactics of publishing a book.

Some of the programming highlights include the Keynote panel “Break Through & Publish YOU!” featuring moderator Christopher Kenneally (Director, Business Development & Author Relations) and speakers Mark Coker (Founder, Smashwords), Sandy Poirier-Diaz (President, Smith Publicity), Craig LaPinta (Product Manager, Publishing at Lulu).  Other speakers include top names from all over the industry. There will be two self-published authors who have recently signed big book deals with traditional publishers including Darcie Chan, who has been on The New York Times Bestseller List and USA Today Bestseller List and who has sold over 570,000 copies of her ebook. Other speakers include agents Steve Axelrod (who has been behind many New York Times bestselling authors) and Amanda Hocking.  All the speakers will open up on what an author can do to create buzz about their books, how to get discovered in search engines, ideas for selling, as well as provide insights on ebooks and print books.

“The time for self-publishing has clearly arrived,” notes Steve Rosato, Show Manager for BEA.   “We are pleased to provide this opportunity and education for authors at BEA, and even more pleased be able to reduce the price for attending this conference.  Our new low price should make this easily accessible to hundreds of writers as it certainly provides an enormous value for only $99.   The book business is constantly evolving and self-publishing has become an important and significant part of that evolution.  We think uPubU will flourish in the coming years and it will become an integral part of BEA show activity.”
