Marketing Tutorial to Feature Mari Smith and Cindy Ratzlaff; Hosted by Sally Dedecker
Facebook: Powerful NEW Tips, Tactics & Applications for Publishers and Authors will take place January 11, 2012
Norwalk, CT, December 15, 2011: Following up on the successful launch of a webinar series of practical marketing tutorials for authors and publishing professionals which began one year ago on December 7, 2010, BookExpo America (BEA) officials have today announced another webinar tutorial which will focus exclusively on the many changes on Facebook. Mari Smith, widely recognized as one of the world's foremost experts on using Facebook as a marketing channel and Cindy Ratzlaff, a 20-year veteran of the publishing industry, will be the speakers. Sally Dedecker, BEA's Education Director and industry consultant working with publishers and authors, will be the host. The program will take place on Wednesday, January 11, 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm EST. It will cost $25 and registration and tickets are available at www.prolibraries.com/bea.
"We have had huge success with our webinars and Sally has brought a tremendous amount of expertise to this programming," notes Steve Rosato, Show Manager for BEA. "This is not a generic webcast. This one-hour webcast is targeted to members of the book industry – publishers and authors – focused on reaching and engaging readers. With only one hour, the focus will be entirely on Facebook and not the multitude of other social networking sites. I have no doubt that professionals will leave the webinar feeling fully educated about how to use this important tool."
In Fall 2011, Facebook announced many changes... the most changes since its inception in 2004. With more than 800 million users, Facebook is the world's most popular social media site as well as the most popular way that authors and publishers are sharing new books, new authors, events, and backlist opportunities. The one-hour webinar will focus on the NEW Facebook including:
- NEW Subscribe opportunities—what to consider and what to look for if a publisher or author elects to share with everyone
- NEW Privacy issues to consider
- NEW Lists and Groups (including Secret)—benefits and how it can help authors and publishers to reach the right audience
- NEW Facebook Advertising—a popular way for publishers and authors to reach readers as well as an opportunity for sponsored stories
- NEW Facebook Insights—how to read them and how to use them to plan your marketing strategy
- NEW Timeline—benefits and how to use it now
