BookExpo America Announces New Author Venue Featuring Jane Fonda, Charles Frazier, John Lithgow, Jane Lynch and Michael Moore!

04/20/2011

Norwalk, CT, April 20, 2011: BEA officials have today revealed plans to highlight a handful of selected major authors by combining a high profile speaking opportunity with an official autographing session.  The new events, which provide authors with the chance to speak as well as interact both formally and informally with a large of audience of booksellers, media and fans, will  take place on BEA’s newly named Insight Stages (formerly the Author Stages) and will be branded as Signature Events.  BEA’s Signature Events will be promoted prominently on the BEA web site and will be a focus of BEA’s marketing and messaging in the weeks leading up to the show.

BEA’s Insight Stages were renamed this year to better reflect the content and programming (the “insightful” commentary) which takes place on the stages in all forms (speeches, dialogue, and demonstrations).  Each Signature Event will take place on the Uptown Stage and will last approximately 90 minutes.  The authors will be introduced by their publisher and will speak for 15 - 20 minutes.  A Q & A with the audience is optional.  This will be followed by a 60 minute autographing which will take place right at the Uptown Stage.  Seating is free and limited to 150 and so attendees are encouraged to come early as the seating is first come, first served.  Tickets to receive an autograph will be distributed at the event, also on a first come, first served basis, and will be provided to those individuals who have a seat, and then to those who are in the standing room section behind the seated area.

“BEA’s Signature Events are a perfect addition to our robust author programming,” notes Steve Rosato, Show Manager for BookExpo America.  “The events are designed to attract lots of attention, partly because of their location, which is right on the show floor, but also because of accessibility.  These are all very high profile authors who are speaking AND making themselves available for a meet and greet.  In this respect, the Signature Events represent everything that BEA is about which is giving authors a chance to promote their books while giving our attendees an opportunity to hear and meet interesting and dynamic authors.”
