4TROOPS To Perform At Bookexpo America Children’s Author Breakfast As Special Addition To Program


Norwalk, CT, May 18, 2010: 4TROOPS, the new musical group of four U.S. combat veterans who served on the front lines in Iraq and Afghanistan and whose debut CD was released last week, will perform at the BookExpo America (BEA) Children’s Author Breakfast on Wednesday, May 26th, as a special addition to the program, by arrangement with Newmarket Press, Sony Music, and DRW Entertainment. Newmarket just announced the first and only illustrated book on the group, titled 4TROOPS: THE MISSION IS MUSIC, for publication in September to coincide with the launch of the group’s 60-city fall concert tour.

Following the Breakfast program, 4TROOPS will autograph posters from 9:30am to 10:30am in the Exhibits Hall at the Perseus Books Group booth, #4225 (Perseus is the distributor of Newmarket Press titles). Newmarket will hold drawings for BEA attendees to win the 4TROOPS CD at its booth (#4114), every hour from 11am to 3pm on both days of the BEA exhibits.

While overseas, music played a crucial and very personal role in the lives of the one woman and three young men who make up 4TROOPS: Former CPT. Meredith Melcher, Former SGT. Daniel Jens, Staff SGT. (RET.) Ron Henry and Former SGT. David Clemo. Individually or in pairs, they would often sing at everything from large military events to more intimate settings.  Now, together as a group, their purpose is to sing on behalf of all troops, to honor their sacrifices and to create awareness for their needs. Their self-titled debut album, consisting of the lead single “For Freedom,” well-known positive pop and country songs, as well as new songs, was released on the Sony Masterworks label on May 11.

In the last four months, 4TROOPS have gained national attention with interviews and performances on Good Morning America, Fox & Friends, and NPR. They have performed the national anthem live at Major League Baseball games and a nationally televised NASCAR race, and recently toured U.S. military bases. Media bookings to promote the CD release in May include GMA, Nightline, Fox & Friends, Larry King Live, The Early Show, Huckabee,and Imus.

In addition, 4TROOPS will have their first national television concert special, “4TROOPS: Live from the Intrepid,” airing on participating PBS stations during the upcoming June and August pledge drives.

BookExpo America will take place May 25th – May 27th at the Jacob K. Javits Center in New York City. It is a business convention, open only to members of the book trade. The Children’s Author Breakfast will be in the Special Events Hall Wednesday May 26th from 8am to 9:30am, and is a ticketed event.
