Every year BEA supports numerous non-profit entities through the donation of goods, services, space at BEA, and monetary contributions.
Our new program to highlight our support of great literary causes is BEA Cares. Please join us in supporting the following organizations:
Housing Works Bookstore Café is a non-profit bookstore and café that raises funds and awareness to support Housing Works Inc., the largest community based AIDS service organization in the United States. Housing Works provides housing, healthcare, job training, social and legal services, and advocacy to homeless New Yorkers living with HIV/AIDS.
We are stocked entirely by donations and as BEA's official charity partner will be accepting leftover books at the end of the expo. Check us out online at www.housingworks.org/bookstore, and visit us ("the literary salon the city has been missing" according to The New York Times, complete with delicious food and drink) at 126 Crosby Street in SoHo.
The American Booksellers Foundation for Free Expression (ABFFE) is the bookseller's voice in the fight against censorship. ABFFE is fighting to restore the safeguards for reader privacy that were eliminated by the USA Patriot Act. It is also working with students, teachers, and librarians to oppose the hundreds of attempts every year to censor books in schools and libraries. For more information about ABFFE, visit www.abffe.com or call 212-587-4025.
To support ABFFE during BEA, donate $1 for each of your autographed books in the Autographing Area.
